A Maket alternative with furnished plans you can walk through

Maket and Loftshape both generate floor plans with AI and let you change them in plain words. They differ in what surrounds the plan: Loftshape furnishes it, opens it in 3D beside the 2D editor and adds photo tools and client links.

Choose Maket if

You are a homeowner, builder or property professional who wants AI-generated floor plans, and you value what their paid plans list: uploading an existing plan as an image or a PDF, plan uploads that are validated by a person on their Pro plan, custom templates and design references, and API access at scale.

Choose Loftshape if

You want the plan furnished and in 3D from the start. Describe the home and Loftshape draws a furnished plan to scale, with a first-person walkthrough, rendered pictures, PDF and DXF export and a view-only link for the client. The photo tools — restyle, staging, sketch to render — come in the same account.

These two are close neighbours. Maket’s site describes an AI floor plan generator, the option to upload an existing layout or start from a blank canvas, changes made by describing them in plain words, and a design you can explore in 3D with styles from its library or your own reference images.

Loftshape starts in the same place — a sentence or a brief becomes a floor plan to scale — and furnishes the plan as it draws it. The 2D editor (walls, doors, windows, furniture, snapping, typed lengths, several floors with stairs) and the 3D view are open together, and you can walk through the result in first person.

Both say plainly that what they produce is a design, not a set of documents to build from. Whichever you choose, a qualified professional still has to check it against local requirements before anything is built.

Which one fits your work

Builders and developers working at volume

Maket’s larger plans list custom templates, bulk import and API access. If you need to generate plans in quantity or from your own systems, look at those first.

Interior designers and stagers

A plan that arrives furnished is a faster start for a layout conversation. In Loftshape you can then render pictures from the 3D view and restyle or stage photos of the real rooms in the same account.

Homeowners planning a house or an extension

Describe the rooms, the size and the plot, walk through the result in 3D, and ask the assistant for changes. Send the plan to your architect as a PDF or a DXF.

Estate agents

Rebuild a property’s plan from a picture of it, furnish it, and share it by a view-only link next to staged photos of the rooms.

Where Loftshape isn’t the right answer

  • Loftshape plans are not construction documents, and the product does not check building codes or structure.
  • Plans rebuilt from a picture are rebuilt by software, not checked by a person. If you need an upload validated by a human, Maket lists that on its Pro plan.
  • It is a web app, in English only, with no native phone or tablet app and no offline use.

Questions people ask when comparing

Is Loftshape free?

The studio is free: the editor, the plan generator, the 3D view and Walkthrough cost nothing, and no card is asked for. The AI runs on credits. A new workspace is given 30 once; after that Starter is $15 a month with 200 AI credits a month, Homeowner is $29 a month with 500 AI credits a month, and Pro is $99 a month with 2,000 AI credits a month and 3 seats. Studio, for larger teams, is priced on request.

Can I import a plan I already have?

Yes, from a picture. Upload an image of an existing floor plan or a hand sketch and Loftshape rebuilds it as a plan you can edit in 2D and view in 3D.

Are the plans furnished?

Yes. A plan generated from your description comes with furniture placed in its rooms, to scale. You can change the furniture in the 2D editor or ask the chat assistant to do it.

Can I build from a Loftshape plan?

Not directly. The plans are for design and presentation; they are not construction documents and nothing in Loftshape checks building codes or structure. Export a PDF or DXF and take it to a qualified professional.

Which file formats can I export?

On a paid plan, plans export as PDF and, from Homeowner, DXF. You can also render pictures from the 3D view, with 4K export from Homeowner.
